Process Engineer / Metallurgist – Mill, Leach, Flotation, Solvent Extraction
Company  : Minerals Leader
Location   : Western U.S.
Diverse Process Engineer with Grinding/Milling, Leaching, Flotation and Solvent Extraction experience. Reports directly to the General Manager and is a key member of the management team, responsible for improving the plant’s operating processes as well as planning and executing capital projects

 

Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

·         Process Efficiency: Process modifications to improve product quality, reduce costs, improve reliability, and improve safety.  This is a hands-on, continuous improvement position.

·         Equipment and process change control, commissioning and validation of equipment.

·         Provide engineering leadership and assistance to operations and maintenance including: establishing operating parameters, troubleshooting, evaluation of equipment failures, and technical recommendations for repairs and upgrades.

·         Capital projects:  Process Engineering Support for capital project scope development

·         Use Statistical (SPC) methodologies to provide technical assistance in order to develop and implement Quality Assurance, increase Productivity and reliability programs.

·         Lead plant / mill Continuous Improvement Program

 

The Process Engineer must have a demonstrated record of accomplishment in a manufacturing culture focused on safety, reliability, and process improvement.  Ideally this experience will include mineral and/or inorganic chemical continuous process manufacturing.  Experience should include a minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering and/or leadership capacity.  Good technical skills coupled with excellent communications skills are essential.

 

The ideal candidate will have the desire and potential to develop into a broader management role, in an engineering, maintenance, or production capacity.

 

Other requirements include:

·         BS Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering or related technical field

·         Strong background using statistical methodologies (SPC) to improve plant operating efficiency and productivity

·         Capability to independently support related areas of responsibility with minimal supervision

·         Ability to effectively communicate with all functional groups and through several levels of the organization

·         Can utilize project management and other engineering tools to optimize project execution

·         Functional/technical knowledge and/or experience commensurate to the role/job

·         Interest in and commitment to teamwork and team based systems

·         Demonstrated leadership skills

·         Strong Computer skills

Mineral Processing Engineer

Mineral Processing Engineer

    * Work on multi-discipline project teams providing process and extractive metallurgical engineering technical expertise with applications in mineral processing.
    * Project assignments include design and analysis, material balances, lab and pilot plant testing, developing process flowsheets, writing reports and equipment specifications, estimating costs, and sizing process equipment.
    * Responsible for plant/mill process optimization and debottlenecking

Qualifications

Production / Process Engineer
Company  : Significant International Leader in Specialty Chemicals / Minerals
Location   : Domestic U.S.
Production / Process Engineer is responsible for optimizing the plant processes and  equipment. Ensures that the quality and production goals are accomplished.  Address maintenance problems that inhibit the efficient operation of the process equipment. Direct capital funds projects for plant equipment improvements.  Communicate changes in operating parameters as well as dealing with newly installed equipment.

Required Qualifications:
•    Bachelor of Science in either Chemical or Mechanical Engineering is required.
•    Minimum of 5 years of experience in a chemical or heavy industrial process industry is required.
•    Leadership role in developing and implementing process and safety improvements.
•    Experience in environmental permit compliance.
•    Strong ability to communicate and direct activities of operators and maintenance.
•    Experience filling in as Superintendent/Manager.
•    Experience in monitoring costs (operating costs and turnaround costs).
•    Plan and lead turnaround activities
•    Strong work ethic.
•    Proficient oral and written communication skills.
•    Proficient in Microsoft programs.

•    Identifying and implementing cost savings projects annually
•    Assist identification and implementation of safety and environmental improvement projects.
•    Track and provide recommendations to ensure that production meets or exceeds goals.
•    Provide material balance forecasting and assistance with cost forecasting.
•    Provide root cause analysis leadership and involvement
•    Identify, request and apply capital funds for improvement and sustaining projects.
•    Manage contract operations activities and spending for cost effectiveness.
•    Participate meetings to improve safety and environmental awareness.
•    Assist in employee training to communicate changes in operating parameters as well as newly installed equipment.

MINERAL PROCESSING ENGINEER

Our client is seeking an experienced Process Engineer responsible for corporate process engineering activities and to be a member of the corporate senior technical team.  This will include optimization of processes, evaluation and optimization of existing plants, and process water re-use and conservation.  It will also include technical support for plant functions such as dewatering, product quality and purity, air quality control technologies, and energy conservation. 

With high visibility, this position will also be a member of the corporate senior technical team responsible for development and optimization of assets.  This includes strategic planning, management of pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, & technology evaluation for improved cost efficiencies & production.

Key responsibilities:

•    Evaluation and optimization of processes
•    Process equipment selection and evaluation for recovery improvement

•    Define field test parameters, provide training, gather data, and interpret and report results.
•    Direct the development of best practice R&D processes.

Requirements:

•    5+ years chemical plant, pilot plant and R&D process engineering
•    Knowledge of statistical methods - SPC
•    Excel, Microsoft Office applications, with PLC knowledge a plus.
