Health & Safety Coordinator This position is responsible for assuring that Health and Safety Programs and practices are in place and followed. Ensures that Company is meeting all aspects of Health and Safety compliance while assuring that the workforce is provided a safe working environment. Responsibilities: Standardizes safety programs across the company Provides assistance to the plants upon the arrival of an MSHA inspector on-site and as needed to address any MSHA issues Issue Health & Safety reports including required MSHA reports, Workers Compensation claim filing, and internal scorecards Coordinates Health and Safety training across all manufacturing plants and monitors all training reporting Researches all reportable and Lost Time accidents. Assures that proper action was taken and that proper notification and reporting has occurred Monitors and coordinates open WC cases, reports on case activity Participates in WC carrier review and selection process Plans and administers the STOP program training; provides performance tracking of STOP participation Audits health and safety across all plants Coordinates routine health screening and reporting Attends Mining Association meetings as available; participates in the Safety Committees activities to assist and facilitate Companys safety program Performs other related duties as assigned Qualifications/Requirements: 4 year college degree, preferably in science, or equivalent OTJ experience 5 years manufacturing experience, with involvement in safety programs, preferably in mining industry Certification in health and safety a plus 3 years experience in training employees Familiarity with health & safety regulations, MSHA preferred Self motivation and ability to work independently; goals and results driven Strong verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills Ability to develop and execute plans Strong leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and influence others Problem solving capabilities with focus on determining root cause Passion for a safe, clean work environment PC knowledge, with Word and Excel capabilities |
