E & I - Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer
Company  : Manufacturing and Processing Industry Leader
Location   : Western U.S.

The professional will:

·         Direct projects which upgrade electrical and instrumentation equipment and reduce costs.

·         Budget for E & I maintenance and projects.

·         Supervise E & I maintenance and engineering including Hardware and Software, Equipment Selection, Start Up and Troubleshooting of Systems using PLC's, Variable Speed Drives and HMI's.

·         Manage controls/automation projects at plant.

·         Establish and enhance Preventive and Predictive Maintenance procedures.

·         Directed and coordinated plant E & I CMMS.

Requirements

·         Track record of successful involvement with operations, maintenance, equipment upgrades, expansions and new development.

·         Navy/Merchant Marine experience helpful but not required.

·         Track record of successful involvement with plant Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Controls and Automation including PLC's, HMI's and Motor Control Centers.

·         BS Electrical Engineering or similar preferred

Process Controls / Automation Engineer
Company  : Significant Leader in the Area of Industrial Minerals
Location   : Western U.S.
Our client is a significant leader in the area of industrial minerals.  Applications for their products are numerous and growing.  

The Process Control Engineer is responsible for the design, maintenance, and programming of existing and future electrical and automation equipment at the plant.  Interfaces with production, management, staff, engineering (including outside engineering services), quality control, and maintenance departments and contractors to ensure that quality product is produced in an economical and safe manner.  Must be able to work independently and accept responsibility for sophisticated and expensive equipment and work responsibly with potentially hazardous processes and systems.  Maintain safe working conditions and practices to achieve a zero (0) lost time injury record within the area of responsibility.  Perform work duties in accordance with SEQ system procedures.

Process Related:

Work with the engineering and production staff to refine process design and control aspects of new projects.  Lead the use of proper electrical, instrumentation, and process control elements to make quality product with the minimum of manual control and maintenance.  Design systems so quality control information and production reporting data is collected and available in useful formats.
Manage the Process Change Request system.  Maintain the electronic system so process change requests can be initiated by plant personnel, approved by responsible parties and implemented by engineering/process control personnel.  

System Maintenance:  

Responsible for maintaining reliable system, existing PLC, SCADA, and related hardware along with communications, back ups and software.  Schedule automation system maintenance and verify the availability of spare parts in inventory.  Provide troubleshooting assistance to production and maintenance.  Work closely with hub Automation to maintain Client standards.

Process Computer Systems Troubleshooting & Capital Projects:

Provide assistance to all plant personnel when systems are malfunctioning or when product is out-of-specification. Includes 24-hour a day coverage for PLC, SCADA, and all computer and networking hardware.   Assist RAM Engineering to initiate, estimate, seek financial approval, design, specify, direct engineering effort, supervise construction, manage project costs, commission, check-out, and start up capital projects as required.


Qualifications:    

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or commensurate education and/or experience & two years in engineering.  Key to have familiarity in PLC programming, SCADA programming, databases, visual basic, networking, servers, MS Office, plant electrical systems and instrumentation.  Use of a CAD system preferred.  Electrical testing meters and methods would be beneficial.
In addition, the candidate must have a deep understanding of plant processes from beginning to end, including a thorough understanding of plant electrical and electronic equipment including motor drives, instrumentation and troubleshooting.

•    Capable of writing and understanding programs with advanced PLC instructions such as PID, function blocks, advanced math, etc.
•    Performs screen development and modifications for HMI and MMI software’s (RSView, RSStudio, etc.).
•    Capable of programming in RSLogix 5, RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, etc.
•    Familiar with variable frequency drives (VFD) and servodrives.
•    Organizes and maintains PLC records and ensures they are backed up and up to date.
•    Changes program documentation to reflect any changes that need to be made.
•    Effectively communicate with all departments on program modifications and changes.
•    Train E&I staff on operation of new equipment and installations.
•    Inspects and tests equipment, electrical control and safety devices for operation and safety.
•    Observes all safety rules, regulations and precautions.
•    Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

In depth knowledge HMI systems.
Thorough knowledge of PLC programming.
Significant knowledge of PID control schemes.
Knowledgeable of the appropriate electrical code.
Good oral and written communication skills.
