    This important role has many responsibilities regarding product improvement and new product development.  The incumbent will supply technical support to the Americas organization for specialty chemicals / minerals products.  Key will be to evaluate customer problems and /or complaints from a technical standpoint and supply the Applied Technical Service Manager and Regional Sales Managers with the information needed to make sound decisions regarding new product development and countering competitive products.  The engineer will also provide laboratory technical support for various technical programs, and develop procedures and formulations that will enhance the potential for increasing sales.  The strong candidate will have a Bachelors Degree in a technical field plus one to three years of direct formulation experience in chemicals or mineral products.

    Other key responsibilities include:

    Supply the technical rationale for convincing the customer base to purchase products consistent with sales priorities.  
            
    Evaluate new and existing products for applicability and technical performance.

    Ensure the safe, environmentally sound, and efficient procedures of the laboratory are followed without exception.
           
    As approved, make calls on customer base with Regional Sales Managers.

    As requested, prepare and deliver presentations to customers and trade associations.  

    Identify and recommend outside analytical or processing services when consistent with the goals of laboratories.

    Support the improvement of new specialty chemicals / minerals products to meet customer demands in various industries.  Support optimization of process systems, manufacturing cost reduction and performance testing of new process equipment.  The strong candidate will have a BS in Chemical Engineering or Plastic Materials Engineering with 7+ years experience related to Plastic Engineering, Chemistry and / or Mineral Processing.  Experience with supervising staff is highly desirable. Must have a strong academic background in organic or inorganic chemistry, as well as experience with statistics and computer applications.

    Maintenance Manager

    The Maintenance Manager is a key leadership role within a strong client.  An important aspect of the role is the professional development of maintenance personnel.  The incumbent will lead the team that provides maintenance support to two operating mine sites and one mineral separation plant.  In addition, provides technical guidance to maintenance and management personnel on engineering related decisions. The maintenance team is responsible for prioritizing, planning, scheduling and executing the maintenance activities required to maximize equipment availability, protect assets and safeguard personnel and the environment.  Also important will be management of minor capital works projects falls within the responsibility of the maintenance department.     Qualifications

    Degree qualified engineer with minimum of 10 years experience in the maintenance of heavy industrial equipment.
    Hands on experience with both mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks is preferred.  
    Proven ability to use existing systems and develop/apply new maintenance techniques and methods, including computer driven instrumentation and predictive/preventative methods - either by use of in-house expertise or by effective control of off site specialists.  
    Understanding of mineral sands separation equipment is an advantage but not essential.
    Manage effectively the activities of multi-disciplined teams.
    Seek and embrace state-of-the-art maintenance methods, technologies and new equipment to reduce unit maintenance and operating costs.

    Manager of Environmental Permitting

    The Manager of Environmental Permitting will report to the Director of EH&S and will be responsible for submissions of quality produced permit applications to the appropriate regulatory agencies.  Work with the Land Department, Technical Services and Site EH&S teams on a variety of permitting projects as assigned.  The incumbent will also act as a resource to the Site Managers by ensuring that they appropriately manage resulting permit conditions, agency responses, revisions, and other necessary system requirements according to company policy. This position will:

    •    Provide timely technical review all documents (annual reports, progress reports, all licensing actions, etc) to be submitted to the regulatory agencies
    •    Manage all environmental permitting activities
    •    Assist site and divisional management on permitting actions
    •    Lead responses to information requests from regulatory agencies
    •    Review existing permits and ensure that sites are aware of all permit obligations
    •    Lead the development of a permit and license requirement tracking system
    •    Determine status of permits and develop a schedule to ensure completion of all outstanding issues
    •    Represent company with regulators associated with projects
    •    Ensures compliance with applicable local, state and federal permitting regulations
    •    Develops excellent relationships with regulators and permit writers
    •    Determine obstacles to gaining permit approval and develop a plan to mitigate obstacles
    •    Lead meetings with key regulators and communicate status with company executives
    •    Recommends appropriate corrective actions as required
    •    Determine the need for outside environmental consultants and gains approval prior to contracting their services

    Background:
    •    Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical, environmental, earth sciences, or engineering discipline
    •    Advance degree preferred, but not mandatory
    •    Minimum of 10 years experience in the mining industry or related field, to include surface and/or underground mining operations, and permitting
    •    Ability to recommend effective strategies and support the management systems approach
