We are currently assisting a global leader in specialty high demand products in locating exceptional and proven leaders for a high level Project Manager role. This high profile role will exercise considerable responsibility and maintain corporate visibility by reporting directly to key decision makers. In a time when many minerals, mining, and manufacturing operations are cutting back, our clients are seeing significant growth. Our client has been a world leader in their focus for over 50 years. This longevity can be attributed to the unique nature of their products, which results in a stable yet diverse customer base. Applications for their products are numerous and span various industries such as paints and coatings, food and beverage, personal care, chemicals, and agriculture. This high demand has allowed the client to continue to be the fastest growing producer of a key product, making it one of the leading producers in the world. Committed to continual growth, the client recently engaged in a significant capital investment project with the startup of major energy and heat recovery projects. The Project Manager must have extensive hands-on experience in project management, purchasing, budgeting, contract and vendor management, and commissioning in the mining/minerals or chemicals/powder processing industries. In addition to the duties mentioned below, the Manager will take the lead to review engineering calculations and assumptions so that projects are delivered/completed as designed. Experience to include: Track record of deadline and budgetary target attainment. Management of engineering and construction with project value totals in excess of $5MM. Supervision of Project Engineers. Development and implementation of policies and procedures for project engineers and managers. Successful track record of health and safety for projects managed. Development and support of training initiatives to improve both quality and performance of respective workforces. Hands-on experience with JIT, TQM, SPC and other quality and manufacturing standards a plus Experience with conveying, crushing, pumping, materials handling and processing. Knowledge of structural areas including structural steel work. Knowledge of soils, foundations and steel design. Mechanical design of equipment helpful. Plant equipment layout. Belt conveyor experience. Managed construction projects in the field. Dealt with building permits, environmental permits and construction problems in the field. Heavy industry experience. Prefer mining, mineral processing or dry material inorganic chemicals Knowledge of soils, foundations and steel design. Mechanical design of equipment helpful. Prefer Mechanical Engineering Degree or closely related degree. |

Very important is experience with MS Project and/or Primavera Software that offers Project Portfolio Management (PPM) solutions. A degree in Engineering is a must and PMP certification is strongly preferred. |

Project Manager Materials Handling Monitor, review and recommend on all evolving work. Maintain project status reports, project schedules, daily reports, meeting notes, etc. Coordinate, direct and maintain effective communications. Create a central file and data bank. Assist in producing any missing contract design specifications and assist developing on new projects. Monitor and enforce project schedule. Review, prepare or otherwise maintain file for drawing submittals. Insure Lien Waivers and Certificates of Insurance. Prepare all documents related to extra costs resulting from out of scope work, change orders, and extra work items that may be required. Review engineering and comment on all engineering drawings. Identify O/M manual requirement. Obtain and submit complete set of Certified As-Built drawings. Expedite drawing submittals, reports, change orders, permit preparation documentation, etc. from Contractor. Close out project activities. Construction Management Monitor the receipt, inspection and inventory of all equipment and materials. Verify schedule and coordination of foundation work, steel erection, equipment placement, electrical installation. Inspect and observe each contractors performance to assure all work is completed in accordance with the contract scope, specifications, permit and equipment is installed as required by Manufacturers instructions. Monitor and enforce all safety regulations and specific site regulations. Interpret engineering drawings. Monitor field surveys and conduct layout verification. Maintain daily accounting of all activities, manpower and progress. Resolve errors. Account for disposition of back charges and / or extra work. Construction inspection. Punch list creation and contractor resolution. Start-up, Commission, Training and Testing Construction manager will assist the general contractor on plant start-up and commissioning. Identify equipment supplier(s) that need to provide a start-up specialist for the inspection of start-up, commissioning, training and equipment performance test on their equipment as needed. |
