Manager of Quality & Sustainability Management - Americas

Manager of Quality & Sustainability Management - Americas

This significant leadership and development role will lead and manage the quality management system program and continuous quality improvement efforts in the Americas Region for a significant client. The incumbent will define and lead region-wide product quality initiatives in close collaboration with all plants and oversee continuous development and improvement of the quality system program.  This considerable program includes the customer complaint management system, quality document management systems and associated systems. 

As a far reaching position with considerable responsibility, the manager will have considerable corporate exposure by serving as an interface between numerous company groups.  This includes meeting multiple market & customer sales needs and standardizing optimal quality processes between manufacturing, technical, administrative and sales groups. The manager will advise, educate and train managers & employees on the value of maintaining & improving quality system.  The manager will report to the VP level.

Additional responsibilities include:    
­
Define and lead region-wide product quality initiatives in close collaboration with all plants.
­
Oversee continuous development and improvement of Quality System Program which includes the customer complaint management system, quality document management systems and associated elements.  Objectives include meeting multiple market/customer sales needs and standardizing optimal quality processes between manufacturing, technical, administrative and sales groups.
­
Advise, educate and train managers, colleagues and employees on the business value of maintaining and improving quality system.
­
Manage response to supporting customer and market requirements for quality system elements and information, including supplier surveys and site audit visits.  Coordinate necessary follow-up actions with the Sales / Customer Service and Sales Administration departments.
­
Perform and advise internal audit programs to ensure the effectiveness of the quality systems, suitability and improvement, including procedure updates.
­
Support, advise and coordinate with Purchasing and Regulatory Affairs the development and implementation a supplier audit program to ensure consistent quality of materials to client.
­
Ensure currency of ISO (9000 and 1400) and OHSAS 18000 certifications for all facilities, as applicable, in close cooperation with managers of Health & Safety and Environment.
­
Coordinate all RAM certification efforts in support of Multi Site Certification project.  Act as the RAM Quality representative to Sustainability Group efforts.

Qualifications:    

­Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering or a similar field.  Master’s preferred but not required.
­
10-plus years of progressively responsible experience in quality systems and the management thereof in a mining, chemical or a closely related industry.  
­
Demonstrated experience with obtaining and maintaining ISO 9000 registration at manufacturing facilities.  Familiarity with ISO 14000 and a general knowledge of OHSAS 18000 is required.
­
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work across multiple cultures.
­
Significant experience in effectively leading, and being a contributing part of, multi-disciplinary teams.
­
Willingness to travel, up to approximately 50% of the time, mostly within the Region.
­
Practical experience and/or working knowledge of auditing, industrial compliance, government regulatory affairs.
­
Experience productively managing customer and third-party standard requirements is essential.  
­
Incumbent must be able to simultaneously understand, prioritize, decide, clearly communicate and successfully manage several multifaceted projects and to rapidly adapt to and learn new tasks/roles within group companies.

Quality Control Laboratory Manager
Company  : One of the Largest Global Producers of Key Products
Location   : Midwest U.S.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITES

  • Supervise QC personnel and manage laboratory.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures for continual improvement.
  • Perform raw material evaluations
  • Provide operations with technical assistance during manufacturing processes.
  • Work with production personnel to facilitate sampling of products that require analysis.
  • Provide technical support to production for material acceptance or rejection decisions, manufacturing adjustments and quality issues.
  • Perform quality studies to maximize efficiencies and improve quality.
  • Enforce proper laboratory safety by serving as Chemical Hygiene Officer
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations.
  • Guide employee performance and development through the use of daily communication and annual performance evaluations.
    Prepare and administer budget.
  • Oversee instrument maintenance, calibrations, quality checks, solution preparations and solution
    standardizations.
    Oversee the purchasing of all supplies.
  • Active in plant safety programs.
  • Active member of the Emergency Response Team.
  • Works with other staff members to maintain workload balances.  Provides back-up support as necessary.
  • Supports effective communication with all departments where responsibilities overlap to ensure success of the branch team.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry required.
  • Minimum 5 years professional laboratory experience.
  • FDA, USP experience preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills required.
  • Must possess good analytical and math skills.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Power Point, Word, and Excel required.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical control.
  • Must have communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to read, write, and speak English.
