Description and Qualifications

Quality Assurance Manager

DESCRIPTION

Responsible for plant Quality Assurance programs. Work closely with senior process and plant management personnel to improve product quality. Serve as Plant Lead Quality Auditor. Manage QA Lab. Interface with customers on product quality assurance issues. Apply Six Sigma to plant operations. Direct ISO certification activities

REQUIREMENTS

BS Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science or Chemistry with Quality Assurance experience in the steel industry. Experience interfacing with plant operations, maintenance and engineering personnel. Track record of improving product quality. Work with multiple disciplines as part of management development program. Track record interfacing with customers to handle product quality issues. Experience with ISO9000/QS9000 and Six Sigma.

Quality Assurance Metallurgist - Manager

General Quality Assurance Positions

 

•  Responsible for plant quality assurance.

 

•  BS Chemistry, Quality Science, Industrial Engineering or other disciplines with Quality Assurance experience.

 

•  Experience in Automotive, Plastics, Chemicals or other similar products.

 

•  Experience working with Plant Operations, Maintenance and Engineering personnel.

 

•  Experience with LEAN, ISO9000/QS9000, TPM, and/or Six Sigma.

 

•  Ideally Six-Sigma Black Belt.

 

•  Track record of interfacing with customers to handle product quality issues.

 

•  Track record of improving product quality.

 

For Lean Leader / Continuous Improvement Coordinator / Six Sigma Black Belt, Green Belt, Master Black Belt

 

•  Facilitate continuous improvement through use of all tools available (QCPC/Root Cause Analysis, Standardized work, Set-up Reduction, 5-S, Total Productive Maintenance, etc.).

 

•  Lead Kaizen Events and continuous improvement efforts.

 

•  Steer the facility to “think out of the box” and to remove paradigms.

 

•  Coordinate the lean training, lean development, and the lean activities of all associates (salaried and hourly), assigned to the office or facility.

 

•  Lead monthly Lean steering committee meetings with the plant or office manager.

 

•  Must have the ability to contribute to the culture shift in the office or facility to embrace Lean as the primary lean methodology

 

•  Implement Lean workplan in the plant or office.

 

•  Ensure all Lean reports are being collected regularly in the facility, reported monthly to corporate Lean and that all targets are met, which includes the timely achievement of each Lean level.

 

•  Drive improvements to positively impact the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and Management Dashboards, relative to safety, quality, cost, productivity and on-time delivery.

 

•  Lean manufacturing/business process improvement experience is required (two to five years experience is preferred).

 

•  Six-sigma “black-belt” or “green-belt” certification is preferred.

 

•  Lean problem solving abilities.

 

•  Strong training skills and facilitation abilities.

 

•  Detail-oriented with Lean planning and organizational skills.

 

•  Demonstrated abilities relative to the elimination of waste and process variability.

 

•  Strong process and technical understanding (technical background preferred)

 

•  Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).

 

•  College or University degree required. BS in Engineering or science-related preferred.
